We had an incredible day today out boating around North Captiva Island in Pine Island Sound. The water was the smoothest I’ve ever experienced, like a calm lake. The dolphins were very active at the end of the airstrip on the bay side of the island - at the beach known as “Dolphin Beach” or “the end of Salty Approach”.
In this video you will see many dolphin feeding and playing. As many spectators watched from shore, we were in a boat we rented from Boats & Fun on the island, drifting just off the shore. There were several other boats and some kayakers around to witness this incredible show.
Watch as a young dolphin starts jumping and flying through the air - several dozen times - as it makes its way further out into the bay. It is quite normal to see dolphin daily around North Captiva, but this particular experience was quite unique.
